Meet Pastor Mark Bedford
Rev. Mark Bedford attended McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. After years working in churches in Illinois and Wisconsin, Mark was ordained to ministry in 2009 and became the pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Sioux City in 2021.
What we believe
At the heart of the Presbyterian faith is trust in God’s grace and love shown through Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible is our guide for faith and life, and that all people are called to share in Christ’s ministry.
Worship is centered on God, with Baptism and the Lord’s Supper as our two sacraments. Our church is led by a pastor and elected elders working together, reflecting our belief that God calls everyone to serve.
Christian Education Classes
We offer Christian education classes for adults and children to learn from Scripture and follow Jesus in daily life.
Adult Bible Study
Wednesdays at 6:15pm and Sundays at 9:30am
Vincent Lounge, Lower Level
Adult Bible Study is a time for meaningful conversation and honest questions. Whether you are new to Bible study or have been part of many, you are welcome here.
Sunday School
Sundays at 9:30am
Upper Level
Through age-appropriate lessons, activities, and discussions, children learn the stories of the Bible, practice prayer, and grow in their understanding of God’s love. Sunday School also gives them a chance to build lasting friendships and discover what it means to follow Jesus together.
Get Involved
There are many ways to be a part of the life of the church. Join a group or volunteer for an activity that matches your gifts and interests.
Committees
From planning Sunday School, organizing volunteer opportunities, to taking care of our building, there is a way to use your skills for the good of the church.
Altar Guild
Keep our sanctuary looking its best by restocking altar and pew items and decorating the sanctuary for the Advent season.
Handbell Choir
Our handbell choir is looking for new members to play beautiful music. No previous bell playing experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn.
Choir
Make a joyful noise by singing in our adult choir. No previous musical experience necessary. We sing a variety of music from modern pieces to traditional hymns.
Soup Kitchen Volunteer
One day each month our church members volunteer to prep and serve meals at the Soup Kitchen.
Women's Group
The Women’s Group gathers once a month for social outings, book clubs, and mission work. it’s an opportunity to grow in faith with each other.
